Recruiting future dentists

It's recruitment season, and faculty and alumni are on the road, encouraging students to apply to Texas A&M College of Dentistry. As part of what's called Texas Southern Swing Week, Texas universities last week hosted pre-health fairs for their undergraduates. Alicia Spence, director of recruitment and admissions at A&M Dentistry, traveled Feb. 17 to Texas A&M University's main campus in College Station and Feb. 18 to The University of Texas at Austin. 2018 dental grad honored with young alumnus award

Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas recently named Dr. Heather Koroma the 2025 Texas A&M University College of Dentistry Outstanding Young Alumnus Award recipient. The award celebrates alumni who are 10 years or less out of dental college and making an impact on the profession, the community and A&M Dentistry.  Koroma, a 2018 dental alumna practicing in Lake Charles, Louisiana, works as a certified correctional health professional and a National Commission on Correctional Health Care surveyor, where she helps uphold and advance standards in correctional health care. Koroma said she’s driven by a sense of purpose and responsibility. College of Dentistry alum puts veterans first

It started as a small gesture of kindness. Dr. Stan Lowrance (Baylor College of Dentistry, Class of 1981), longtime owner of Lowrance Dental in Rockwall, was treating a veteran who was also undergoing chemotherapy treatments. He told Lowrance that a nurse in his physician's office was also a veteran going through chemotherapy, and all her teeth were ruined; she was devastated and didn't qualify for extensive dental care through the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Marc J. Worob, alumnus, named AGD president

Dr. Marc J. Worob (Class of 1979, then-Baylor College of Dentistry) of Austin was installed as president of The Academy of General Dentistry Nov. 16, during its annual meeting in Chicago. Worob, who has been actively involved in AGD on multiple levels for more than 40 years, is an advocate for continuous dental education, aiming to enhance the skills of general dentists and improve the oral health of the public, AGD's press release stated. Texas A&M College of Dentistry hosted retired dentists - including College of Dentistry alumni and past presidents of the Dallas County Dental Society - this week for a tour of our clinics and labs. They shared their stories with the students - the next generation of dentists. Read More

Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas honored three new Hall of Fame inductees on April 30. Drs. Amp W. Miller III, Ernestine S. Lacy, and John S. Findley each continue to serve and build the dental profession. Read More
