Dental students show their skills and compassion
Dental students from Texas A&M College of Dentistry participated in the 13th annual Dentistry with a Heart event, hosted by Park Cities Rotary at the Agape Clinic. The community outreach initiative provided free dental care — including extractions, fillings, and cleanings — to 26 patients from the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center and Agape Clinic. Providing healthier smiles in Houston
About 20 Texas A&M College of Dentistry students traveled to Houston Sept. 26–27 to participate in the Texas Mission of Mercy's mobile dental clinic, providing dental care to underserved patients. Susan Jolliff, an adjunct professor in public health sciences, and Simmi Patel, clinical assistant professor in public health sciences and dental director of Now Forward, supervised the students. Compassionate care close to home
At Garland Free Dental and Medical Clinic, third- and fourth-year dental students volunteered Sept. 27, providing dental services to about 100 patients in need. From oral health education, prophy and extractions, students delivered care from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., under the supervision of Dr. Jonathan Clemetson, clinical faculty member in comprehensive dentistry. Bringing oral health education and care to the community
The school year is in full swing, and Texas A&M College of Dentistry students are busy volunteering at community health events. Here's where they were Sept. 13: Several dental students were at Mission Arlington for a day of teeth extractions, under the supervision of Dr. Dax Sinn, an adjunct faculty member in public health sciences. Fourth-year students volunteering included Austin Bond, Youngju Oh, Adriana Vega, Armando Ferandez, Bahram Soroushi and Alix Matthew. Starting earlier for better clinical training and care
Texas A&M College of Dentistry is expanding its popular sealant program in five independent school districts - Dallas, Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Garland, Richardson and Irving - to include more dental students. Previously, only third- and fourth-year dental students could participate in the community outreach program; however, beginning today, second-year students will provide sealant care too. Read More
