Henderson tapped to chair the state’s dental board

Dr. Bryan Henderson II, a dentist anesthesiologist and adjunct professor in Texas A&M College of Dentistry’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, was recently appointed chair of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners by Gov. Greg Abbott. The board regulates the practice of dentistry, dental hygiene and other dental-related professions. Read More

Dr. Lily T. García, dean of Texas A&M University College of Dentistry in Dallas, was celebrated Aug. 21 as one of Dallas Business Journal’s Women in Business honorees this year. García, who’s also a prosthodontist, was among 30 North Texas women chosen from more than 280 nominees.   Read More

End of an era: Longtime library associate turns a page

Cheryl Howell had a plan when she started working as a library clerk at what's now Texas A&M College of Dentistry. “I was only going to be here for a little while, and then I was going to go back to get my bachelor's (degree) in nutrition,” she said. Luckily, Howell stayed. And after 44 years of cataloging, researching and providing either academic or emotional support - often both at the same time - to anyone who entered the library, "Ms. Cheryl" is closing this chapter and retiring today. The library associate who earned a President's Meritorious Service Award from the Texas A&M system in 2019 and is known for her warm smile won't be forgotten. Read More

Noureldin earns double honors

Dr. Amal Noureldin, clinical professor in public health sciences at Texas A&M College of Dentistry, will assume the vice presidency of the cariology research section of the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research in June. Smiles we remember: Dr. Tommy W. Gage

It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Dr. Tommy W. Gage, who died May 23, 2025. Dr. Gage began his distinguished career at the dental school in 1969 as associate professor and chair of the Department of Pharmacology. He later served as vice chair and professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Pharmacology and held a clinical faculty appointment in the college’s Stomatology Center. He retired in 2000 as professor emeritus. Following his initial retirement, Dr. Gage returned to serve as director of curriculum, retiring a second time in 2002 after 33 years of dedicated service.
