College of Dentistry seeks pregnant women who snore for a pilot study

Researchers at Texas A&M College of Dentistry are seeking pregnant women for a pilot study of the effectiveness of an oral appliance to improve sleep quality, breathing and snoring.  “Snoring can be a serious problem that can affect your health and that of your child, said Zohre German, program coordinator in biomedical sciences. “It’s associated with poor quality sleep, high blood pressure, heart disease, preeclampsia and preterm delivery.”  The five-week study requires regular visits to A&M Dentistry at 3302 Gaston Ave. The study includes home sleep tests for at least six weeks and wearing an oral appliance at night for four weeks. College of Dentistry maintains maxillofacial cone beam CT accreditation

The Imaging Center at Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas recently earned re-accreditation from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for maxillofacial cone beam computerized tomography operations. Ryan earns graduate research award

Dr. Daniel Patrick Obelenis Ryan received the Clinical Graduate Student Research Award April 16 from Texas A&M College of Dentistry for his thesis research. Ryan, a periodontics student, studied the use of a non-incised minimally invasive flap procedure in conjunction with Emogain MI compared to traditional scaling and root planing. Read More

Dental students, dental hygiene students and graduate students shared their latest research at the 50th Annual Student Scholars and Research Day April 2 at Texas A&M College of Dentistry. Projects ranged from the impact of attendance on the academic performance and learning styles of dental students - attending class is essential - to fluoride as a therapeutic agent for periodontal disease in the geriatric population. Partnership to improve oral thrush treatment

Texas A&M College of Dentistry recently entered into an agreement with Shear Kershman Laboratories and medical device company Innovative MedTech Inc. to study BioViscid, a pharmaceutical delivery mechanism for anti-fungal medication designed to treat oral thrush more effectively and enhance patient compliance.
