Dr. Paria Dehghanian, a fourth-year graduate student in the oral and craniofacial biomedical sciences program at Texas A&M College of Dentistry, received the People’s Choice honor at the Three Minute Thesis competition Nov. 14 at Texas A&M University Graduate and Professional School in College Station. She’s one of three awardees among 85 competitors. Dehghanian competed in the doctoral division.

The research competition, also referred to as 3MT, was developed by The University of Queensland. Each competing student has three minutes to present a compelling oration on his or her research and its significance to a nonspecialist audience. Dehghanian’s presentation was When Tendon Becomes Bone: Building the Joint that Shapes Every Word and Bite.

She is scheduled to graduate in May. Dehghanian earned her dental degree from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Shiraz, Iran.
