Dental students show their skills and compassion
The Dentistry with a Heart dental team and Texas A&M College of Dentistry volunteers
Dental students from Texas A&M College of Dentistry participated in the 13th annual Dentistry with a Heart event Oct. 18, hosted by Park Cities Rotary at the Agape Clinic. The community outreach initiative provided free dental care — including extractions, fillings, and cleanings — to 26 patients from the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center and Agape Clinic.
Under the supervision of Dr. Michael Rainwater, adjunct professor in public health sciences, senior dental students Youngju Oh, Jacob Ramos, Dawn Miller McElroy and Soheil Haftbaradaran, and oral surgery resident Dr. Shiv Patel provided care.
Pre-screening was conducted Oct. 15 at the rehabilitation center, helping streamline patient flow and ensure readiness for treatment. This long-standing partnership has been a cornerstone of DWAH since its inception in 2010.
A total of $34,172 in dental services was provided, offering students valuable clinical experience and making a difference in the lives of underserved Dallas residents.
