Dr. Marc J. Worob, alumnus, named AGD president

Dr. Marc J. Worob (Class of 1979, then-Baylor College of Dentistry) of Austin was installed as president of The Academy of General Dentistry Nov. 16, during its annual meeting in Chicago. Worob, who has been actively involved in AGD on multiple levels for more than 40 years, is an advocate for continuous dental education, aiming to enhance the skills of general dentists and improve the oral health of the public, AGD’s press release stated.

His most recent roles were vice president and later president-elect.

“My vision as president is to ensure that AGD continue to be the trusted home for general dentists, one that grows with their needs and strengthens their success,” stated Worob, who was elected AGD vice president in 2023, in the release. “Through our new strategic plan, we’ll expand our membership, empower our constituents, and enhance the continuing education and advocacy that make AGD indispensable to the profession.”

Worob is the owner and president of 12 Oaks Dental in Austin. His practice, which includes partner Dr. Elyse Cronin Barron, focuses on complete health dentistry that considers the holistic well-being of patients.

During his tenure as a member of the AGD, Worob has served in several capacities. He served on the AGD Communications Council and helped organize the 2022 AGD Leadership Development Symposium. He also served as a regional director and chair of the regional directors. He also helped organize the 2022 AGD Leadership Development Symposium.

Worob remains active with his local AGD component and the Texas AGD. He was on the Texas AGD board from 2010 until 2013, then he returned in 2014 as president-elect.

Dr. Partha Mukherji, assistant professor in comprehensive dentistry at A&M Dentistry, was named Region 18 director and was recently chosen as a co-recipient of Texas Dentist of the Year by the state AGD. He is a 1997 alumnus and joined the faculty full time a few months ago.
