Texas A&M College of Dentistry participated in the Third Annual Agape Clinic Health Fair, a community outreach event Oct. 25 dedicated to serving the predominantly uninsured, low-income and Hispanic population in Dallas-Fort Worth. It was at East Dallas Christian Church.

Organized by Texas A&M College of Medicine students in collaboration with the Agape Clinic, the fair provided health education, screening services, vaccinations and community resources. Dr. Martha Alvarez, an adjunct faculty member in pediatric dentistry, supervised the students. Dental students Madeline Young, Reeka Daring and Youngju Oh volunteered, as did dental hygiene students Elizabeth Sanchez, Amaya Orozco and Lexi Penn. Drs. Rubie Rakian and Jae Shin, A&M Dentistry graduate students, also participated.

Several pre-dental students from The University of Texas at Dallas were there too.

In a separate event Nov. 8, A&M Dentistry students and residents participated in an Extraction Day at Mission Arlington, a community outreach event that provided essential dental care to the Arlington community.

Dr. Dax Sinn, adjunct faculty member in public health sciences, supervised students. Volunteers included dental students Fatima Mukhi, Landon Robinson, Ryan Eldin, Christian Youssef, Alex Feldman, Yougjun Lee, Mathew Lishewski, Austin Bond, Armando Fernandez, Brandon Tran, Adriana Vega, Zoe Lina-Arasah, Christy Chang, Juan Lopez and Nash Mailicdan.

Their teamwork, clinical skills, and respectful care provided made a difference for every patient, Sinn said.
