Faculty and a resident student at Texas A&M College of Dentistry Department of Public Health Sciences attended the National Oral Health Conference (NOHC) 2026, held earlier this month in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Themed “Unveiling Oral Health Possibilities,” the conference highlighted innovation, collaboration and strategies to advance oral health equity and population health.
The department was represented by Dr. Liang Hong, head of public health sciences; Dr. Hoda Abdellatif, clinical associate professor; Dr. Peggy Timothe, associate professor and program director of dental public health residency; Dr. Raghad Obeidat, clinical faculty; and Dr. Bushra Nikhat, dental public health resident.
The NOHC convened oral health professionals, researchers, educators and policymakers from across the country to share evidence-based practices and strategies to advance oral health equity and population health outcomes, Abdellatif said.
During the conference, Dr. Timothe and Dr. Anneta Bitouni, clinical assistant professor in comprehensive dentistry, presented research posters on behalf of the dental public health residents Dr. Zafar Mohamed and Dr. Ketki Kulkarni, highlighting resident-led scholarly work and ongoing public health initiatives within the program. The poster presentations provided an opportunity to showcase resident research while engaging in meaningful dialogue with colleagues from institutions nationwide, Abdellatif said.
