DCDS honors for Glenn and Spence
Drs. Gayle Glenn, clinical associate professor in orthodontics and graduate orthodontic clinic director, and Alicia Spence, clinical assistant professor in comprehensive dentistry and director of recruitment and admissions at Texas A&M College of Dentistry, were honored by Dallas County Dental Society as Dentist of the Year and Texas A&M College of Dentistry Faculty Member of the Year, respectively. 2018 dental grad honored with young alumnus award
Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas recently named Dr. Heather Koroma the 2025 Texas A&M University College of Dentistry Outstanding Young Alumnus Award recipient. The award celebrates alumni who are 10 years or less out of dental college and making an impact on the profession, the community and A&M Dentistry. Koroma, a 2018 dental alumna practicing in Lake Charles, Louisiana, works as a certified correctional health professional and a National Commission on Correctional Health Care surveyor, where she helps uphold and advance standards in correctional health care. Koroma said she’s driven by a sense of purpose and responsibility. Read More

College of Dentistry honors three faculty members
Texas A&M University College of Dentistry in Dallas recently presented faculty awards to Drs. Feng Tao, Rashmi Hegde and Janna Burnett. The awards are bestowed upon those who demonstrate strong leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to educating dental students, dental hygiene students, graduate students and specialists. Each winner was nominated by the faculty. Awards were given Dec. 17 at George W. Bush Presidential Library during the A&M Dentistry annual faculty retreat. Read More

Honored for excellence in community service
Fourth-year dental students Austin Bond and Youngju Oh at Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas recently received Texas Mission of Mercy Awards. Each student was recognized for active participation in Texas Mission of Mercy's oral health events and for their commitment to community engagement and service. Read More

Dental students take first and second in New Orleans
Texas A&M College of Dentistry third-year dental students Jessica Vu and David Qin placed first and second, respectively, in the poster research competition Speaking Well at the Speak Easy at the annual American College of Prosthodontics meeting Oct. 22-25 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Read More

Texas A&M College of Dentistry hosted a staff awards ceremony Sept. 25 to honor several employees who not only work hard, but who also are dedicated to the school’s mission of providing academic excellence, trailblazing research and community-centered care and service. “Sometimes it is easy to forget how well offices and programs run until you lose someone…,” said Dr. Lily T. García, dean. “We want to spend time to celebrate, thank you and show our appreciation.” Read More

García named to Women in Business list
Dr. Lily T. García, dean of Texas A&M University College of Dentistry in Dallas, was celebrated Aug. 21 as one of Dallas Business Journal’s Women in Business honorees this year. García, who’s also a prosthodontist, was among 30 North Texas women chosen from more than 280 nominees. Read More
