Texas A&M College of Dentistry’s Student National Dental Association hosted Impressions Day on Saturday, Feb. 28. The annual event serves as an opportunity to introduce students interested in pursuing a career in dentistry to the college’s standards of academic excellence, research and community-centered care and service.
The event includes informative learning sessions and immersive experiences, such as mock dental school interviews and taking dental impressions.
Among the highlights, third-year dental student Breanna Hervey presented an informational session on behalf of the Office of Student Development, highlighting the many pre-dental and post-baccalaureate programs that A&M Dentistry offers; she’s an alumna of the post-bac program.
Attendees applying to dental school this year had the opportunity to participate in the mock interview rotation, where faculty simulated a dental school interview and provided feedback.
“This activity has been a great way for students to strengthen their interview skills and improve themselves as applicants,” said third-year dental student Ferhana Ahmed, SNDA Impressions Day co-chair.
Students not applying to dental schools this year were encouraged to attend the Dental Admission Texas prep session. A representative from DAT Booster, a popular study tool, provided some study tips and a tutorial.
Students from the following universities and colleges attended Texas A&M University, Texas A&M International University, Florida State University, Meharry Medical College, Houston Christian University, Prairie View A&M University, Tarleton State University, The University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas Tech University, The University of Texas at Tyler, the University of Houston – Clear Lake and Baylor University.
