2014 Distinguished Alumnus
The honor goes to Dr. Scott Waugh ’74.
Dr. Scott Waugh ’74 may live and work in Oklahoma, but the distance hasn’t stopped him from staying involved with his alma mater these past 40 years. Since starting a dental practice in Edmond, Okla., Waugh has served the alumni association as a board member and president, the centennial steering committee in 2004 and is even beginning a three-year term on the Baylor Oral Health Foundation board of directors.
Word of Waugh’s dedication traveled across the miles to result in his being named the 2014 Distinguished Alumnus of Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry. In addition to maintaining a practice in his home state — he is a 1968 grad of the University of Central Oklahoma — Waugh devotes time to teaching, volunteering and organized dentistry. A clinical professor of operative dentistry at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, Waugh is also an active member and past president of the Oklahoma Dental Association and American College of Dentists.
The distinguished alumnus announcement was made at the alumni association general membership meeting and reception in San Antonio on May 2 during the Texas Dental Association annual session. Formal recognition comes later, during the alumni homecoming reception, which will be Aug. 15, 2015, at Eddie Deen’s Ranch in Dallas.
