Hometown: I grew up in Rockwall, Texas.

Undergrad institution: I attended Texas A&M University for my undergrad and graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Health.

Why Texas A&M College of Dentistry: While searching for dental hygiene schools, Texas A&M College of Dentistry had all the aspects I was looking for, including research, community outreach and the dental practice setting. Of course, being close to home helped as well.

Dental hygiene school success strategy: Allow yourself to get enough sleep. I tried to cram in as much studying as I could the night before an exam, but I found myself doing much worse. I felt a lot better when I went to bed a little early and woke up feeling much more refreshed and ready to study and retain more information.

Favorite energy food: Does coffee count as food? Starbucks definitely helps to keep me going.

How you unwind after a long day in lecture, lab or clinic: After a long day, I like to go home, get in my PJs and watch Netflix. It helps relieve my mind after a stressful day in the clinic.

Best dental hygiene school moment so far: The best moment in hygiene school so far would have to be seeing how far my classmates and I have come. We all started off as very scared and timid, and I can see that we seem more confident in the clinic setting.

Favorite patient care experience: My favorite patient care experience would have to be building small connections with all of my patients. I think this helps make us more approachable to our patients and allows us to build strong rapport and trust with them.

Goal after graduation: My goal after graduation is to do more community outreach. I would love to go to underserved communities and teach the importance of oral health to kids and teens for early intervention.

What people may not know about you: I love cooking new things and watching all the cooking shows. Pinterest helps me feel like a chef. And I also like trying new and different things!
