ACP honors for Woody

|

Dr. Ronald Woody was recently recognized with the Major General Bill B. Lefler Federal Services Award during the American College of Prosthodontists 47th Annual Session. The award, named for the late Maj. Gen. Lefler, a 34-year military serviceman, recognizes leadership, patient care, service and mentorship. It’s a fitting honor for Woody, who worked with Lefler for more than 40 years and himself served the U.S. military and Texas A&M College of Dentistry for more than 50 years combined.

The award comes just before Woody’s “second” retirement from the College of Dentistry. He retired in 2013 after 30 years at the school, two decades of which were spent as director of the very prosthodontic residency program he helped develop. With that post, his 10 years directing the implant dentistry program and the past four years working part time as professor emeritus, Woody has helped to train more than 100 residents.

Outside of his work at the dental school, Woody served the U.S. Army Dental Corps for 21 years and, within organized dentistry, is a past president of the ACP, American Board of Prosthodontics and American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics.
