Caruth luncheon

Graduates of the college’s dental hygiene program carry a deep sense of pride in their profession. One may even go so far as to say Caruth hygienists “bleed purple," which explains the splashes of lilac permeating their annual celebration’s details.

What started in 2013 as a way to commemorate the dental hygiene profession’s centennial has evolved into a banner event for the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene. On Sept. 9, approximately 100 alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of Texas A&M College of Dentistry’s dental hygiene program gathered in the Folsom Room of Baylor University Medical Center’s Roberts Hospital for lunch, conversation and the chance to recognize this year’s guest of honor: Dr. Janice DeWald, professor emerita, who retired Aug. 31 after more than 20 years as the school’s director.
