Class of 1968 reunion

What better way for Caruth alumni to celebrate 50 years of friendships forged through the dental hygiene program than to raise money for future students?

Members of the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene Class of 1968 gathered in sunny Seaside, Florida, along the state’s Emerald Coast to celebrate their 50-year class anniversary April 17 to 22. Along with enjoying the nearby beach and catching up with classmates, alumni organized an auction to contribute funds to the college’s Ausmus-Laursen Caruth Class of 1968 Dental Hygiene Scholarship. This year’s total: $3,000.

Alumna Lana Crawford describes the scene: “It was not a silent auction, but a very loud and hilarious auction. The bidding was friendly but at times fierce.”

In the spirit of collegiality, the 18 individuals on the reunion trip carved out time to send postcards to classmates who were unable to attend. It’s a Class of 1968 tradition. The 2018 reunion is just one of many for this close-knit class, with gatherings in previous years in locales such as Irvine, California, and Taos, New Mexico. The trip brings the class full circle, as their first destination reunion was 10 years ago, also at classmate Janice Curry’s Florida beach house.
