Debbie Ruff known for service focus
What colleagues have to say about TAMBCD’s purchasing manager, who is retiring after 32 years
Debbie Ruff, purchasing manager, does talk more than her husband, Steve. In her defense, it’s an occupational necessity. Besides, just about anyone talks more than Steve, dental lab technician in the college’s Center for Maxillofacial Prosthodontics.
Debbie Ruff has spent the past 32 years applying her communication skills and extensive knowledge to benefit purchasing activities at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry. She and Steve are about to embark on a new joint adventure – retirement – after many years under the same TAMBCD rooftop. Comments from colleagues and friends at a retirement reception Feb. 23 spoke volumes about Debbie Ruff’s influence on her employees and the dental college community.
Here’s a recap, in a few colleagues’ words, for those who weren’t able to attend.
“Debbie is excellent at listening to understand what is needed. She is extremely empathetic with everyone and is an outstanding steward of resources and also the reputation of the dental school. She is committed to our institutional mission and to her colleagues.”
— Gail Parrigin-Clark, director of financial services
“I want to thank Debbie for her mentoring style of management. She is empowering to those around her and is focused on customer service while encouraging her employees to do the same.”
— Rick Farmer, procurement specialist
“I have a lengthy list of things I’ll miss about Debbie. She’s a big inspiration to me.”
— Terry Grayson, shipping and receiving associate
