Flashback to ’79
The Class of 1979 used to greet its class president with paper airplanes, spit wads and one-liners.
“So brutal, but lots of love,” says Dr. Tommy Harrison, recipient of their good-natured ribbing. “It was a whole audience of Johnny Carsons. Everybody had one line they wanted to get in.”
Times have changed. After a 20-year pause from get-togethers, Harrison’s cohorts were happy to hear him on the other line with reunion plans. The calling tree grew, starting with co-organizer Dr. Robert Cederberg, then Dr. Terry Mosser, Dr. Marty Baumgardner and more. Their reunion was coming together quite nicely.
On Oct. 10, 26 classmates (out of 116) and 14 spouses met up at The Rustic, a popular Dallas eatery, for a fun night of catching up and reminiscing. Not a paper plane or spit wad in sight.
“The relationships we’ve made and been able to maintain” by far outweigh most everything, Harrison says. “It was nice to gather again with people we had been to hell and back with together.”
