Elective services expanding with addition of Reddy to OMS faculty

Extensive experience with facial cosmetic surgery is one of the unique skill sets Dr. Likith Reddy brings to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which means Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry can expect to see more of these elective procedures added to its list of patient services.

Because these surgeries impact the face, mouth, teeth and jaws, surgeons such as Reddy are uniquely attuned to address not just aesthetic appeal but also functionality, according to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons website.

05experts-reddySome of the most common procedures include:

  • Nasal reconstruction (rhinoplasty)
  • Ear surgery (otoplasty)
  • Chin surgery (genioplasty)
  • Lip enhancement
  • Cheekbone implants (malar augmentation)

Facial cosmetic surgeries may be done in conjunction with restorative work or separately depending on what the patient elects to have done, says Reddy, the department’s new associate professor and residency program director, who most recently worked as cranio-maxillofacial section chief of the plastic and reconstructive surgery division at Louisiana State University Health Science Center’s School of Medicine.

In addition, Reddy is a member of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association and spent several years as a co-director of cleft and craniofacial surgery at Tulane Medical Center in Louisiana. Other areas of emphasis include surgeries for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.

While he may be new to TAMBCD, he is certainly well acquainted with the state, having spent several years nearby at Parkland Memorial Hospital and UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he completed his residency in 2003.
