Oral Cancer Foundation 5K Walk/Run
Spreading awareness in effort to save lives
There’s a hard truth about oral and oropharyngeal cancers, which are expected to prompt an estimated 48,250 new diagnoses in 2016. While these cancers have an 80 to 90 percent survival rate when found early, the majority of cases are found in later stages, dropping the survival rate to just 20 to 30 percent.
The Oral Cancer Foundation, a national public service nonprofit, seeks to change those numbers through prevention, education, research and advocacy, and on April 16, the Dallas-Fort Worth dental community is invited to be a part of this change with the foundation’s 5K walk/run at Bachman Lake. The event provides an opportunity to raise funds to benefit the Oral Cancer Foundation, educate the community on oral cancer symptoms and remember loved ones lost to the disease.
