Caruth students receive awards from local, state organizations

February is an eventful month for dental hygienists in Texas — as well as their student counterparts from the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry.

It started with the annual meeting of the Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association and the Student Chapter of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Feb. 5-7 in San Marcos, Texas. DH1 Mackenzie Johns was awarded the Texas Dental Placement Network Scholarship, and DH2 Dominique Salas-Garfias received TDHA’s B.J. Long Memorial Scholarship.

Feb. 18 marked the occasion for more recognition during the Dallas Dental Hygienists’ Society annual Student Appreciation dinner.

Three second-year dental hygiene students received the DDHS B.J. Long Memorial Scholarship, including:

  • Briana Bonney;
  • Carolyn Medina; and
  • Salas-Garfias.
