Standout faculty honored with awards during 2015 retreat
Each year Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry recognizes faculty members who go above and beyond in their roles instructing dental students and residents and fulfilling the college’s mission.
The 2015 faculty award recipients include:
- Dr. Darren Roesch, biomedical sciences – Teaching Excellence Award
- Dr. K. Vendrell Rankin, public health – Distinguished Teaching Award
- Dr. M. Douglas Benson, biomedical sciences – Basic Science Faculty Research Award
- Dr. Stephen Crane, public health – Institutional Service Excellence Award
- Dr. Jennifer Barrington, general dentistry – Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award (Full‐Time)
The awards were given during the 2015 Annual Faculty Retreat, which focused on awareness of policies, guidelines and updates related to the merger between Texas A&M University and Texas A&M Health Science Center that was implemented in mid-2013.
Topics and presenters included:
- Student due process revisions – Dr. Jack Long, associate dean for student affairs, TAMBCD
- Legal tenants of due process in the academic environment – Jerry Brown, managing counsel, Office of General Counsel, Texas A&M University; and Joe Galvan, managing counsel, health affairs, TAMHSC
- Student academic integrity memorandum of understanding – Tim Powers, director, Aggie Honor System Office, Texas A&M University
- Student conduct – Dr. Anne Reber, dean of student life, Texas A&M University
- Academic appeals – Dr. Charles Berry, associate dean for academic affairs, TAMBCD
- Title IX infractions – Kristen Harrell, associate director of student life, Texas A&M University
- State of the school message – Dr. Lawrence Wolinsky, TAMBCD dean
