Leadership in times of crisis

A Texas A&M College of Dentistry presentation you won’t want to miss
|

While health care professionals prepare for mass casualty events and medical crises, the scene that met Dr. Brian Williams the night of July 7, 2016, would change his life forever. Twelve Dallas police officers were shot following a peaceful anti-brutality protest downtown, and seven of them were rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where Williams, the lead trauma surgeon on call, guided the trauma team caring for the officers.

Texas A&M College of Dentistry students, faculty and staff are invited to join Williams, an associate professor of surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center, as he recounts not just the initial emergency team response of that evening, but the aftermath that would continue for weeks and months to come, starting with a national news conference just days later. Learn firsthand Williams’ confrontation with what he considers another crisis — the convergence of violence and racism in America.
