This year’s event is 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 8 in room 605 of the Administration and Education Building, and the speaker is Dr. Kathleen Nichols.

Nichols, who serves as part-time clinical faculty at the University of Texas School of Dentistry – Houston in the Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health and as clinical assistant professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, will give a presentation titled “Navigating the Inherent Ethical Minefield Associated with Dentists’ Use of Social Media.”

Nichols practiced dentistry for 37 years in Lubbock and has become a leading voice on the topic of ethics in dentistry. She earned her fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and serves on the Texas Dental Association Council on Ethics and Judicial Affairs, as well as the American Dental Association Council of Ethics, Bylaws and Judicial Affairs where she is chair of the subcommittee on Ethics and Continuing Education.

Nichols also received fellowships in the prestigious American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
